Abstract
The paper presents ECHO, a TEE-based layer-2 solution addressing off-chain payments and cross-chain swaps in cryptocurrencies. It offers channel-free off-chain payments, real-time decentralized cross-chain swaps, and TEE crash-tolerance. The evaluation on a network of 1,000 nodes shows ECHO achieving 7,000 TPS. Key challenges in cryptocurrencies include transaction processing inefficiency and difficulty in cross-chain asset swapping. Existing solutions like payment channels have limitations. ECHO proposes innovative solutions leveraging TEEs for secure transactions.
