Abstract
The article discusses the Wilcoxon nonparametric CFAR scheme for ship detection in SAR images. It compares the performance of this scheme with parametric CFAR schemes like two-parameter CFAR, Weibull CFAR, and TS-CFAR. The analysis is conducted on SAR images from Radarsat-2, ICEYE-X6, and Gaofen-3. The study focuses on maintaining a constant false alarm rate and improving detection performance for ships in various sea conditions. The Wilcoxon nonparametric detector is shown to be fast and effective in suppressing false alarms from sidelobes.
