How does handwriting OCR work?

Handwriting OCR (optical character recognition for handwritten text) reads the words on a handwritten page and turns them into characters a computer can search and edit. Handwriting is harder than print: letters join up and change shape from word to word, so Linnk sends each page image to AI models (Linnk uses ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini models) that read the writing in context rather than letter by letter. Instead of handing you a loose block of text, it rebuilds the page as a document: a searchable PDF with the handwriting re-typeset as real text in the page's layout, and drawings, signatures and stamps cropped from the scan and placed back as images. From the same run you can have an editable Word file built. A word the models can't make out is marked [illegible] and an unclear digit gets a question mark, so nothing is quietly invented. The document keeps its own language by default. Clear writing on a straight, well-lit scan reads best; faint pencil may need a quick check.

Does the searchable PDF keep my handwriting as it looks?

No. The PDF is rebuilt: your handwriting becomes typed text placed where it sat on the page, so every word can be found with Ctrl+F, selected and copied. Drawings, signatures, stamps and photos are cropped from the scan and placed back as images. It looks close to the original layout, not like a photo of it.

Can I convert handwriting to Word?

Yes. After the conversion, choose Word and the document is built on request, usually in a few minutes. Each page is rebuilt as editable text where possible; a page that can't be rebuilt comes back as plain paragraphs or, rarely, as a picture of the page, and the result tells you which pages those are.

Can it read cursive and messy handwriting?
